Honduras Resistance on Day 121 |
Escrito por Fany Rodríguez
Tegucigalpa,
Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The National Front against the Coup
d'Etat has reached its 121st consecutive day against the
military coup on Monday, demanding restitution of democratic
institutionality.
Today's demonstrations in the capital and within the country
were agreed during a national leadership meeting and
ratified in a Sunday mass assembly.
Juan Barahona, general coordinator of that alliance of
social and political forces, rejected a de facto
government's bylaw obliging people ask for permissions to
carry out public activities.
The Constitution establishes freedom to stage demonstrations
and the Hondurans' right to disobedience faced with a regime
forcibly imposed by weapons, Barahona said.
Constitutional President Manuel Zelaya also exhorted people
to maintain peaceful resistance against the June 28 military
coup.
Barahona stated that the national leadership met to analyze
the country's situation and the resistance' actions to
revert the coup.
The union leader said that one of the accords was to ratify
that if President Zelaya is not restituted to power, there
will not be elections on November 29.
The national leadership stated that struggle to achieve
restitution of constitutional order and President Zelaya and
the call for a national constituent assembly will continue
in the nation. |
