Cuba Will Participate at the First Pan-American
Baseball for Women |
By having confirmed Colombia’s participation, six are
already the nations taking part at the first
Pan-American Baseball for women.
Valencia, capital city of Carabobo state in Venezuela,
will be hosting this significant baseball tournament
scheduled from November 13th to 20th.
“We will be travelling some days in advance to play some
training games against Venezuela,” declared Cuban
national mythologist for women Margarita Mayeta.
In addition to this, Cuban baseball athletes, Dominican
athletes, host Venezuelan ones, along with Puerto Rican
athletes and those from Colombia and Brazil will be
competing for the titles in dispute in this first
tournament.
All those missing details that are required to kick off
successfully this tournament will be finally arranged
this week in an official meeting held by high-level
functionaries of the Pan-American Baseball Confederation
located in Mexico.
Those Cuban female representatives, who will be holding
previous baseball matches against their Venezuelan
counterpart; have not been officially selected yet.
“United States and Canada will be the absent baseball
squads,” confirmed Mayeta, former great Volleyball
player.
The Canada baseball squad is getting ready to be present
in February in Havana, during a series of matches that
will be previous to the World Baseball Championship for
women to be held next year.
Cuba was placed sixth at the World Baseball Championship
held in Chinese Taipei in 2006 that was won by United
States.
The Cuban female squad is placed seventh in the
International Baseball Association federation’s ranking
that is led by men despite they had been World baseball
runner-up champions during the last tournament held of
this sportive discipline.
The International Baseball Federation tries to develop
this sportive discipline for women, according to Harvey
