Anti-Flu Vaccine for Cuban People |

Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Around 900,000 doses of the
vaccine against seasonal flu will be administered to
people in Cuba as of November 9, Granma newspaper
reported Monday.
The vaccine, fulfilling all requirements by the World
Health Organization, will protect the most vulnerable
people, who can undergo complications.
The group includes people over 75 years of age, and
women and men of all ages that suffer from diabetes,
severe asthma, and chronic kidney problems, the daily
said.
Resideltial homes for the elderly, physically challenged
people, and workers directly related to poultry and pork
works.
Public Health Ministry Epidemiology Director Manuel
Santin Peña, told press the vaccine does not protect
people against the A(H1N1) flu.
Medication will begin as soon as the first lots of this
product arrive in Cuba. WHO Director Margaret Chan made
the announcement during her visit to the island.
Faced with the second wave of the A(H1N1) pandemic,
health authorities reiterated that pregnant women should
continue adopting strict hygiene measures and go
immediately to the doctor if feeling any respiratory
symptom. |
